Where Watervize is the better pick

• You need infrastructure, asset, and maintenance management — not just water accounting. Watervize advertises GIS-enabled land records, network and digital-twin modeling, lifecycle asset management, and preventive maintenance scheduling. Loamio does not do these and isn't trying to. If you're modernizing the whole infrastructure stack, Watervize is the broader tool.
• You want weather and ET integrations baked in. Watervize lists weather-station integration and ET calculations. Loamio integrates state gauge data but not weather forecasting.
• You're a larger district with engineering staff. Watervize positions itself for "districts of all sizes," but the breadth of features (network modeling, asset lifecycle) lands best at districts with someone to configure and maintain them.

Where Loamio is the better pick

• You want to know the price before the call. Loamio publishes flat tiers with no per-user or per-shareholder fees. Watervize's marketing says "affordable" but lists no price.
• Your ditchriders work where there's no signal. Loamio's field app is offline-first by design: riders mark deliveries, skips, and notes at the headgate with no signal, and changes sync automatically when the device is back in range. Watervize's marketing emphasizes "any device with mobile or internet access" — a web app needs a connection.
• You want billing and patron payments in one integrated system. Loamio uses Stripe end-to-end with explicit ACH, card, and invoice options for shareholders. Watervize mentions a consumer payment portal but does not publicly specify the processor or payment methods.
• You want a tool focused on the five things a ditch company does every week. Loamio is five screens — ordering water, running the ditch, billing assessments, tracking shares, reading gauge data. If your operation is straightforward and you don't need network modeling, the smaller surface is the feature.

Switching from Watervize to Loamio

The practical questions:

1. Data export. Watervize lets you export water-order data to CSV, Excel, or PDF. Loamio onboarding migrates records and reconciles shares and balances before go-live.
2. Feature scope. Confirm that the Watervize features you actually use are in Loamio's five-screen scope. If you depend on network modeling, asset maintenance, or weather/ET tools, Loamio is not yet a replacement.
3. Timing. Migrate during the gap between assessment cycles so shareholders see one clean handoff.
