Loamio tracks each patron's right as share count times acre-feet per share, not as a flat allotment. That matters because it is how the bylaws actually read: when the board changes acre-feet per share for a dry year, every patron's right recalculates from one number rather than from four hundred hand edits. Season-to-date usage sits on the same row, so a patron's remaining water is a fact rather than an estimate.
Assessments
One billing run, not two weeks of reconciliation.
- Bill by share count in one pass. Every shareholder assessed off the same ledger the water rights come from, so the bill and the right can't disagree.
- Collect through Stripe. ACH, card, or invoice, with paid, pending, and failed tracked in one place instead of against a bank statement.
- Processing fees at cost. Districts pay Stripe's standard rate on patron transactions. Loamio adds nothing on top and charges no setup fee.
- Detail behind the bill. Patrons see the orders and deliveries the assessment is built from, which removes most of the phone calls it used to generate.
For the board
Answerable records, not remembered ones.
An audit log records what changed and who changed it. Every patron carries a dated history of what was requested, approved, and delivered. Curtailment decisions are published with a date attached, and the resulting patron-by-patron status exports to CSV for the board packet. When a decision is questioned a year later, the district has a record instead of a recollection.

Shareholders, ledger, orders, and billing history export to CSV at any time — the district's records are never locked in, and they are never sold, licensed, or shared with another party. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, each district's records are isolated from every other tenant, access is role-based, and everything runs on AWS in the United States with automated backups.

What does water district software do for the office?

You bill every shareholder by share count in one run and collect through Stripe by ACH, card, or invoice, with paid, pending, and failed tracked in one place. Stripe's processing fees are passed through at cost and there is no setup fee.
Who owns the district's data?
Your district does. Shareholders, share counts, water orders, gate readings, assessments, and billing entries are your records. They are never sold, licensed, or shared, and they export to CSV at any time.
Is there an audit trail for board and dispute questions?
Yes. Loamio keeps an audit log, and each patron carries a dated order history showing what was requested, approved, and delivered — so a disputed July delivery is answered from the ledger rather than from memory.
How is the data secured, and where is it hosted?
Encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest, with each district's records isolated from every other tenant and role-based access. It runs on AWS in the United States — currently us-east-1 in Northern Virginia — with automated backups.
